Textured Vessels and Pottery |
|
Dale Duncan first started working in clay in 1972 while attending Northwest Missouri State University in
Maryville, Missouri. Shortly after graduation he set up a studio just outside of Kansas City in Kearney, Missouri.
It's there that he first began to develop his textured style of pottery. In 1983 Dale and his wife, Kate, moved
to Charlotte, North Carolina, where he continued studying and working in clay at Spirit Square and later at The
Foundry Clay Studio. |

Over the years, Dale's pottery has continued to evolve and expand. Today, the majority of his work is
one-of-a-kind pieces, combining both hand and wheel thrown techniques. His "Textured Vessels" series
explores contrasting surface textures based on design elements from both traditional and contemporary pottery shapes.
